Notes From The President
March 27, 2006
Dear RPS Members,
On the Match Scores Information page you will find
our scores for the 24 folks that shot the classifier. We captured
a sunny day in this very rainy winter. I did the scores down
and dirty with Jeanine Stefani’s help. Our regular scores
person, Pam Tidd, was out of town, as was our regular email
and format person, Dick Whetsone. You all can see where you
are starting the year. I look for great improvement from all
of us.
The officers of the day must apologize for not
setting up two classifier stages. At the start of the day it
looked like we could all compete on the one stage. As the day
went on, of course more folks arrived and we didn’t want
to shut down while we set up another stage. It was a bad choice
and we again, apologize for the very long day. We especially
feel bad that Pat Rowan and Skip Jones did leave before they
got a chance to shoot. We’ll make sure that this doesn’t
happen again.
Of course, it wasn’t so terrible. We each
fired 90 rounds and that’s not a bad thing.
It was nice
to see Dave Brown who came over from Willits. The long distance
record goes to Hans Bohm who comes down regularly from Ferndale.
We’ll do our first match of the year on Sunday April 30, starting at
9am. We’ll set up 3 or 4 stages (usually 4), divide into two groups,
and go at it with a break for lunch between noon and 1pm. We set up the stages
the Saturday before. That’s Saturday, April 29, starting between 10 and
11 am. It usually takes about 3 hours to set up 4 stages. Please come and help.
The bonus is that after we get everything set up and have a bite of lunch,
we have to shoot all stages several time to make sure that everything is working
properly. So---come on out on Saturday and get a chance to practice for the
Sunday match. By the looks of the classifier scores, quite a few of us could
put a little Saturday practice to good use.
Bring your RPS Club Membership
Fees to the next match, or as you can. We like to have all members pay their
fees by the May match. That’s 75$ per person
or $100.00 for a family. Everyone then pays a $5.00 match fee at each shoot.
If you choose not to join the club, but still want to shoot matches with
us, we’ll charge you $15.00 per match from this point on. Please join
the National IDPA organization as soon as possible.
And a very warm welcome to our new members and shooters. Its great to have
you there. You won’t be novices (with the exception of Eric Frazier who,
shooting his new Glock 34 for the first time, made Marksman on his first classifier-congratulations!)
for long, I’m sure.
Speaking of new pistols, check out Darrell’s new Kimber, Ralphs new
revolver, Jerrys new Glock 34, James model 17, Jeanine’s new holster
and mag pouch, and our new full time, special RPS rate porta-potty. Which
will be at every match. Pam will be thrilled, I’m sure.
