Notes From The President
May 23, 2006
Dear RPS Members and Guests,
On Sunday, May 21, our club hosted 31 shooters. We had four
challenging and fun stages. These were designed by Ken
Dexter. He was home not feeling so well and was inspired to create
that great combination of exercises and scenarios. Please
visit the web site for pictures and stage descriptions.
The weather came and went and we were all comfortable and
dry under the new canopy. We saw Ed
Davies Jr. there. He’s
decided to stay in the area and will be shooting with us
regularly. It also means that our Director of Trophies and
Awards is still with us and we can look forward to another
great series of presentations at the Awards Banquet in November.
Jim Valli was there also and he brought a couple of friends
who, it appears, had a great time. They also helped with
set-up and were given the shoot of approval by Darrell after
safety training at the set-up. They had a great time and
plan to return. This may have been goodbye to Jim, however,
as he has plans to go north. We’ll see. He’s
full of surprises as those of you on his email list are aware.
Darrell’s friend Sam was there shooting for the first
time after having helped with many a setup. Welcome, Sam.
Ken Dexter Jr. is with us again. He’s returned from
school at Wyotech and is now working in town at Pacific Auto.
Please note new big truck……With new big payments,
I’m sure. Is that why his Dad is paying his match fees?
Now that’s a good Dad!
We also welcomed our President emeritus, Dave
Brown, to
shoot with us again. Dave had one leg in a walking cast and
traveled from Willits to be with us. He says he’ll
continue to shoot with us regularly.
Of course, thanks are in order for our Range Master, Darrell
Godwin. All of us safe again. And big, BIG thanks to all
the safety officers who work all day to run the match. Darrell, Peter and Ken Dexter are all certified Safety Officer Instructors.
We started training Jerry Beaty in the important work of
running a shooter through the stage in a safe manner. Good
first day giving your full attention to the business end
of a pistol, Jerry, and thank you. Speak to Peter, Darrell,
or Ken if you are interested in being trained as a safety
officer.
To Pam, thanks again for your flying fingers. All shooters
scored by the end of the day, making Dick
Whetstone’s work easier. Thanks Dick, for formatting the score sheets,
keeping our data base up to date, and for emailing out everyone’s
scores. He’s also told me who has paid their membership
fees, and who hasn’t, and who has yet to join IDPA. Please
remember, you must join IDPA in order to shoot with the club. I’ll meet up, this next match in June, with
those folks who still have paper work to do, and who still
owe club dues, and who still need to join IDPA.
Chuck and Dick both took
pictures at the match and you can see them, with the scores
posted, points down, and trophy points awarded on our match
scores page
Next Match: Sunday June 11, Setup on Saturday, June 10.
