June Notes From
The President
July 9, 2006
Dear Club Members, Guests, and New Shooters
A beautiful, sunny and hot Sunday greeted 25 shooters at
the RPS range. We divided into two groups and started on
stages 1 and 4. Stage 1 was the steel plate Rack
of Doom. Need I say more? Stage
4 was an exercise, limited Vickers count, behind the barricade,
one shot at the steel, two in each paper, strong hand from
one side of the barricade, weak hand from the other side.
We moved forward to the barrel, dropped down and two on each
paper from the right side and then left side, strong hand
then weak hand. Quite challenging, but nothing compared to
stages two and three.
Two started with your backup gun on the table. Blow away
two bad guys right in front with 5 rounds, tactical sequence.
Then up and to your service weapon and three more bad guys,
two swingers, one stationary, while moving backwards. Stop
the timer with a final shot on the beer can after a mandatory
reload.
Stage three was a real adrenaline rush. Seated in your (Darrell’s)
car, stand up, draw your weapon, bad guys in steel and paper
while moving to cover backwards to the other side of the
car, lawnmower car coming at you ya’ with three more
bad guys attached.
We finished off stages two and three after a hour break
for lunch.
During setup on Saturday, we did a condensed safety class
for two new shooters. James Hooper, one of our local dentists,
and Don Hooper (no relationship), son of Don Hooper (relationship).
Don Jr. was home for a brief visit from the Marines and was
there with his wife.
Serg Rafanan and his family were visiting from Ukiah, as
was Jim Shoberg. Both Serg and his wife, Rachel, helped with
score keeping and safety officering. Our good and long time
friend Wayne Johnson came over and shot the heck out of the
courses of fire. Welcome to all visitors every time. We did
miss Eric Frazier and Ralph Umbertis.
Our next match is the Second Sunday of August the 13th.
Setup on Saturday the 12th. See you then.
Peter
We have one matche left, in September.
